Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt wouldn’t mind owning an NHL franchise if the opportunity presented itself.
Watt told NFL Network reporter James Palmer on Wednesday that he’d love to be the owner of a hockey team if one ever came to Houston. The defensive star claimed he doesn’t have the cash to do it, but “would be a figure head of ownership if asked.” (RELATED: Here Are The Best Moments From Week 15 Of The NFL Season)
Said there is no better feeling than putting the puck in the back of the net. Asked if a NFL team came to Houston would be a season ticket holder or an investor. Watt replied: “Owner.” Then joked he doesn’t have enough money but would be a figure head of ownership if asked.

I asked J.J. Watt about the importance of playing multiple sports growing up. He said learning to skate at 3 and playing hockey throughout his youth helped him with balance on the football field. Said if he could be a two sport athlete it would be football and hockey.

Watt’s passion for hockey isn’t a secret at all. He’s been very open about his love of the game, and it’s pretty pretty well-documented.
I would love to see Watt be part of a pro hockey franchise. He grew up in Wisconsin, and I can tell you firsthand that hockey is a big deal here.
It shouldn’t be a surprise to anybody that he’s a fan of the game. It’s hard to grow up in the Badger State and not have some basic level of interest in the sport.
He’s also more than famous enough to draw attention to the team, especially if it were located in Houston. It almost makes too much sense.

I’m not saying that I now absolutely need to see this become a reality. However, now that the thought is in my head, I feel like it would almost be a tragedy if we didn’t see J.J. Watt get a hockey franchise.
Your move, universe.
