New England Patriots receiver Josh Gordon is temporarily leaving the team to focus on his mental heath.

Gordon, who has a history of struggling with mental health issues, posted on Twitter that he “will be stepping away from the football field for a bit to focus on my mental health.”

He also added that he takes his mental health very seriously these days.

Obviously, you never want to see anybody struggle with mental issues, especially somebody who has battled demons for a long time.

Gordon has battled plenty of issues off of the field, and has been suspended many times during his NFL career. Eventually, the Browns had enough of his antics, and shipped him to the Patriots. (RELATED: Here Are The Best Moments From Week 15 Of The NFL Season)

It’s also worth noting that he appears to have deleted his Instagram account. So, it looks like Gordon plans on going completely off the grid.

I hope Gordon is able to figure out the issues he’s dealing with and make a return to the gridiron in the playoffs.

He’s simply way too talented of a guy to not want to see on the field. Of course, football has to take a backseat to a guy’s mental health. At the end of the day, there’s no point in running your brain into the ground over a sport. It’s just not worth it.

Let’s all hope Gordon gets better soon. Football fans everywhere are cheering for him.
