Washington State football coach Mike Leach has gifted us all with another wonderful rant.
I was scrolling Twitter last night while working on some tech stuff at home when I stumbled across Leach lamenting recruiting services shortly after national signing day. It became clear within the first 10 seconds that we were all in for another outstanding rant.
Leach said the following when discussing recruiting services, transcription via 247Sports:
I mean, you’ve got recruiting services and media bases that are assigning stars, and I don’t recall ever calling in my entire career, which is probably nearly 30 years now, any of those individuals and asking them what I should run on third down. So I certainly don’t ask them who can play because if I thought they knew exactly who could play, they’d be invited to our staff meetings and given an opportunity to walk us through evaluations and tell us who to recruit … some of that is a little like saying if I lived next door to a doctor then I ought to be able to do surgery. And so next time you guys need an operation … come to me and I’ll do the surgery and we’ll see how that turns out. And I’m pretty optimistic about it, I don’t know about you.

How the hell did I miss this the past few days? Everybody knows that I’m a massive sucker for Leach rants. I live for them. I’d rather have a new rant from Leach every day than air in my lungs. (RELATED: The College F
Does that sound crazy? Sure, but college football is a crazy world. That’s just a fact, my friends.
I mean, who the hell could ever forget his golden wedding advice? It sounded like it was coming right out of the mouth of one of my own family members.
On a serious note, Leach is a billion percent correct here. Recruiting services are nice and all and there’s a role to fill, but let’s not pretend for a second they’re the gospel when it comes to college football.
Russell Wilson was one of the most overlooked players in the history of the sport, and last time I checked he had a Super Bowl ring on his finger. Recruit rankings miss stuff all the time, and Leach is the perfect guy to set them straight.
