Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his wife MacKenzie announced Wednesday that they are filing for divorce following 25 years of marriage.

“After a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends,” the couple said in a joint statement, which Bezos posted on Twitter. “We feel incredibly lucky to have found each other and deeply grateful for every one of the years we have been married to each other. If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again.”

The Bezos’ met in 1992 while working at a hedge fund in New York, and married the next year. MacKenzie Bezos is the president of “Bystander Revolution,” a prominent anti-bullying organization in the United States. According to reports, she could knock her ex-husband off his perch as the world’s richest man by collecting roughly $75 billion in settlements.
