“Aquaman” is officially part of some extremely rarified air after crossing the billion-dollar mark at the box office.

The Hollywood Reporter reported the following Sunday:

The feat was achieved on Saturday in a notable win for Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment, whose universe of superhero films has struggled to match the blockbuster success of Disney and Marvel’s shared superhero universe since the end of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy (Wonder Woman being a major exception).

Aquaman, which opened in late December, finished Sunday with a worldwide total of $1.02 billion, including $288 million domestically and $742 million internationally.

Well, this shouldn’t surprise a single person. I’ve been reporting for some time now that this movie was bound to hit the billion dollar mark. It wasn’t a matter of if it would get done, but only when it would get done. (RELATED: This Latest Superhero Movie Is Expected To Make A Sickening Amount Of Money)

Turns out, the superhero movie pulled off the incredible accomplishment this past weekend.

It shouldn’t be long at all until the people responsible for this smash hit film begin announcing plans for the sequel.

We all know that Hollywood is all about the cash, and nothing is raking in more money right now than “Aquaman.” A sequel is as much of a sure thing as my Detroit Lions never winning a Bowl is. It’s right at 100 percent.

Major shoutout to all the people responsible for all this success. Not many movies are capable of putting up numbers like “Aquaman” has at the box office.

Don’t spend all your profits in one place, but don’t be afraid to pop a few bottles to celebrate.
