Former Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts has transferred to the University of Oklahoma.

Hurts wrote the following in The Players’ Tribune when announcing his decision Wednesday:

Now, I’m an alumnus of the University of Alabama.

Now I’m Bama for LIFE — and that right there will never change!

But now it’s also time for me to start a new chapter in my story.

I’ve decided to take my talents to the University of Oklahoma, where I will continue my development as both a quarterback and as a student.

I’m very fortunate to have this opportunity, and I’m excited for the journey ahead.

What an absolutely massive get for the Sooners. Am I a little bummed he’s not going to Wisconsin? Sure, but Oklahoma is a great spot for him. (RELATED: Clemson Beats Alabama For National Title)

The Sooners need a new quarterback and Hurts is one of the best in the game. He should step in immediately for Lincoln Riley and dominate. I’d be absolutely shocked if there was any other outcome.

Hurts had an insane career with the Crimson Tide. There aren’t many players at all who could ever dream of dominating the way he did his freshman year in the SEC. He shredded opposing defenses while leading Alabama to the title game.

Now, he’s got a new team and a new mission. It’s all about winning the Big 12 and getting back to the playoffs for him.

I hope he finds a ton of success. The former Alabama QB seems like a good dude, and I always want to cheer for guys like that to succeed.

I can’t wait to see what he does in Riley’s offense. I have a feeling Hurts is going to tear it up. It’d also be so cool to see him play Oklahoma in the playoff. That would really set the world of college football on fire.

What a wild journey for one of the best quarterbacks in the college football game.
