Former Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer might be headed to the broadcasting booth or a television studio for Fox.

Sporting News reported the following Thursday night:

Meyer, who won three national championships between Ohio State and Florida, is being given the choice to work either as a color commentator in the game booth or as a studio analyst at Fox, sources said. Citing serious health concerns, the 54-year-old Buckeyes coach retired after the 2019 Rose Bowl.

Fox just wrapped its most-watched college football regular season ever. The network envisions Meyer as the kind of big-time coaching name/TV talent who could potentially put its “Fox College Football Pregame” show on par with Kirk Herbstreit’s “College GameDay” at ESPN.

It’s just so weird how all this is playing out! It’s almost like we saw the exact same thing when he stopped coaching at Florida, went to ESPN and then left for OSU. I mean, so far, the template hasn’t changed at all. (RELATED: Urban Meyer Stepping Down At Ohio State. Here’s What The Fans Need To Know)

It’s so strange how it’s almost like Meyer just can’t actually walk away from football. If only somebody had been smart enough to predict that months ago. If only that person existed and was writing this article right now. That’d be nice.

In all seriousness, Meyer would obviously bring a ton of knowledge with him to TV. The man won three national championships, knows an insane amount about football and probably has a ton of great stories to share.

I’m not knocking his hustle. There’s a 100 percent chance that I’d tune in for a pregame show featuring him, but I’m also not putting blinders on.

I still absolutely believe Meyer will coach again. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

It should be a lot of fun to see if Fox is able to compete with “GameDay.” Adding Meyer would be one hell of a great start.
