Lionel Richie’s 24-year-old son was detained after he allegedly made a bomb threat at Heathrow International Airport on Saturday.

Richie’s eldest and only son, Miles Brockman Richie, was taken into police custody after he reportedly got violent when he was not allowed to board a plane. It’s not clear why he wasn’t allowed on, but Richie then claimed he had a bomb on him and planned to detonate it on the plane. Security was called and he grew violent, punching a security agent in the face. (RELATED: You Won’t Believe How Much Money Lionel Richie’s Model Daughter Made From This Instagram Photo)

Had he been arrested for the incident, he could have faced serious jail time. Page Six points out that a man stands to spend up to 10 months in prison for making a similar threat at England’s Gatwick Airport in December. It’s still not clear why so many people think the logical next step to take after missing a plane is to make a bomb threat. But hey, travel makes people do weird stuff.
