Kate Beckinsale shared with her fans that she had been hospitalized for a “ruptured ovarian cyst” in a picture from her hospital bed.

“Turns out a ruptured ovarian cyst really hurts and morphine makes me cry. So thankful to everyone who looked after me #wobbly,” the 45-year-old actress shared in a pair of photos she posted on Instagram Sunday.

In one picture, she definitely looks like she’s struggling with the pain and like she had been crying. (RELATED: Celebrate Kate Beckinsale’s Birthday With Her Best Instagram Looks [SLIDESHOW])

Fans of the “Underworld” star and celebs like Lindsey Vonn, Isla Fisher and David Spade reached out with love and encouragement after learning of what had happened.  (Pete Davidson Blocks Ariana Grande On Social Media: ‘You’re Not Good For My Health’)

But not everyone was full of support. One person attacked the “Click” star for stopping to take a selfie during the medical emergency. In response, Beckinsale hit back, per the Huffington Post.

“It’s actually not a selfie,” she replied. “My mum took it. In fact I would not have posted it if we had not noticed someone in a car taking a photo of me leaving the hospital in a wheelchair.”

“I have Instagram largely to have my own honest narrative and not have to always be ambushed by stories that come out that are invented, I’d prefer to say what happened than endure speculation and so I chose to share,” she added.

“I agree, it’s not a normal impulse. But it’s not normal to be photographed in vulnerable situations by people you don’t know either. (If you were interested in knowing the provenance of this, which, you probably are not.).”

As previously reported, Beckinsale had a witty response when reports surfaced earlier this month after she was spotted leaving the Golden Globe Awards with Pete Davidson. The “Saturday Night Live” star recently split with singer Ariana Grande.
