Suspended New England Patriots receiver Josh Gordon is in rehab right now in Florida.

The electric receiver was suspended in December after violating the NFL’s substance abuse policies, and it was just the latest screw up for Gordon. Well, he’s now in rehab trying to get some help. (RELATED: The NFL Reveals The Punishment For Patriots Star Josh Gordon. They Dropped The Hammer)

NESN reported the following update on Gordon Monday afternoon:

Gordon currently is receiving treatment at an inpatient facility in Gainesville, Fla., the source said. Gordon was spotted at a Gainesville-area gym earlier this month because he has been granted freedom to work out based on time spent in the facility.

The Patriots are paying for Gordon’s treatment, the source said. The Patriots declined to comment on the situation.

The team, the NFL and the NFL Players Association are working with Gordon to treat his drug addiction. The goal is for the receiver to function in life and football.

At this point in time, I really don’t think that there’s a great shot Gordon plays again. He has been extended chance after chance by the league, and he continues to get himself in trouble.

At some point, the opportunities will stop showing up.

I really do hope Gordon gets his life figured out. He’s one of the most talented players in the entire league, but he clearly is struggling with some stuff of the field.

Rehab is probably where he belongs right now over the football field. Football won’t matter at all if he can’t get his life on a straight and narrow path.

Will he play again in the NFL? I have no idea. If all the structure provided by the Patriots wasn’t enough, then I wouldn’t hold my breath.

He was put in the best possible situation, and he still flamed out of the league. It’s really sad just how bad Gordon’s career has gone.

Hopefully, he gets it figured out before it’s too late.
