Oklahoma football coach Lincoln Riley is swimming in cash after a recent contract extension.

KXAN reported the following Wednesday night:

Oklahoma football coach Lincoln Riley’s salary jumped to $6 million and he had his contract extended a year, through the 2023 season.

Riley’s supplemental income increased from $3,475,000 to $3,975,000 and his annual retention benefit went from $500,000 annually to $700,000. He will receive an additional $1 million if he stays through April 1, 2021.

Ladies and gentlemen, that is a lot of cash, but Riley is worth every single penny. There had been a lot of speculation Riley could bolt to the NFL, but I think that’s not really likely now.

He’s getting an NFL salary, and he’s absolutely dominating at Oklahoma. There’s no reason at all to want to leave.

Riley has done an incredible job with the Sooners since taking over for Bob Stoops, and now he’s one of the best-paid coaches in all of America.

Of course, it certainly helps when you have quarterbacks like Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray and now Jalen Hurts. That’s an embarrassment of riches at the position. (RELATED: Nick Saban Says He Appreciates What Jalen Hurts Did For Alabama Before Transferring)

It’s utterly insane just how good Oklahoma has been at the position over the past few years.

Something tells me that Oklahoma is primed and ready for another incredible season. If Riley wins a national championship, then his salary could skyrocket even further.
