A recent poll I ran about the Cleveland Browns signing running back Kareem Hunt had some surprising results.
Following the Browns inking him to a deal Monday, I asked people on Twitter, “Was it a smart decision for the Cleveland Browns to sign Kareem Hunt?” (RELATED: Kareem Hunt Signs With The Cleveland Browns)
Of the more than 800 voters, 56 percent voted yes, it was a smart decision.

I’ve got to be honest with everybody here, I didn’t think over 50 percent of the voters would think it was smart. Personally, I think it was way too soon, and that’s putting it lightly.
Let’s not forget that this is the same guy that appears to strike a woman in a video released by TMZ. The Chiefs dropped pretty much immediately, and the Browns didn’t even wait until two weeks after the Super Bowl to go get him. Now, I understand the NFL is a business. I totally get that, and Hunt’s talents likely meant he’d eventually get picked up. I just didn’t think it’d happen so fast.
I guess some teams will do whatever it takes to win. At the end of the day, these teams are trying to win Super Bowls. They’re not churches.
Still, it’s a little surprising to me so many people are okay with this move. If a year from now, Hunt went on a big redemption tour, I think a lot of people would be supportive. But right now, there’s just no way to spin this as the talented young running back, having done enough to prove he’s truly remorseful.

Of course, if the Browns win a ton of games with him, then the fans really won’t give a damn. You can bet on that. Let us know in the comments if you think Cleveland made the correct decision.
