The Detroit Lions should take a hard look at trading for Josh Rosen.
It’s no secret at this point that the Cardinals appear very interested in drafting Kyler Murray, which would put Rosen on the move. (RELATED: Kyler Murray
According to Peter King, Rosen’s trade value might only be worth a third-round pick. If that’s true, then the Lions need to move quickly to get him.
I would trade a third-round pick for the 2018 first round selection in a heartbeat. I wouldn’t even hesitate. I would get that deal so quickly that some heads would spin.
Now, I’m not saying we need to do it in order to replace Matthew Stafford. Not at all. Stafford is my guy, and I’m riding with him as the gunslinger in Detroit until the end. (RELATED: Here’s A Glorious Video Of Matthew Stafford Throwing 56 Touchdowns To Calvin Johnson)
However, there would be some serious value to bringing Rosen into the fold. He’s got a big arm and is the perfect style of QB to play for the Lions and help us do what we want to do.
A third round pick for a potential starter down the road is nothing to give up. It’s pennies on the dollar. He can sit behind Stafford, develop, learn and serve as a low-cost insurance policy.
This move makes almost too much sense. How many third-round picks develop into the same caliber player as a starting quarterback? Not many at all. If we can snag Rosen for a third-round selection, then we should do it and never look back.
