It seems like a lot of people want Graham Mertz to start at quarterback for the Wisconsin Badgers this upcoming season.

With the exit of Alex Hornibrook, it’s down to Graham Mertz or Alex Coan to be the gunslinger for the Badgers. I asked people on Twitter, “Who should start at quarterback for Wisconsin this upcoming college football season?” (RELATED: Hype Continues To Grow That Quarterback Graham Mertz Could Start For Wisconsin)

Of the 502 voters, 64 percent of people voted for Mertz.

Okay, here’s the thing with the poll results. The 36 percent of people who voted for Jack Coan should probably be institutionalized because they’re clearly not right in the head.

This is now the “Graham Mertz” show. There are no other options. Let me repeat that for everybody: There are no other options on the table other than Mertz.

I honestly can’t believe the number was as high as it was for Coan. That’s disturbing. It has me wondering what people think Coan’s ceiling is. (RELATED: Graham Mertz Will Likely Start For Wisconsin At QB With Alex Hornibrook Transferring)

He’s not a bad player, but he’s not the type of guy who takes a program to the next level. Mertz absolutely can be that guy.

In my mind, Mertz gives us the chance to win right now. He’s got a big arm, he’s a big-time talent and we need to roll with him.

As for Coan, he can be a suitable backup, but the only guy I want under center is the freshman phenom. Let’s get it done, Chryst.
