The Wisconsin Badgers got spring football practice underway Tuesday.

My squad took the field in helmets and jerseys to take the first step towards a national title. Every day is a chance to get better, and Tuesday is our first day to hit the grass for the 2019 campaign. (RELATED: Wisconsin Football Coach Paul Chryst Gets Extension)

We sure looked awesome in red and white going through drills and exercises Tuesday.

Obviously, the biggest storyline in the program is who is going to get the starting snaps at quarterback now that Alex Hornibrook is gone.

It would appear that the answer to that question is Graham Mertz, but Paul Chryst has indicated he’s not focused on naming a starter during spring ball. (RELATED: Hype Continues To Grow That Quarterback Graham Mertz Could Start For Wisconsin)

The Badgers head coach can say whatever he wants. That’s fine, but we all know Graham Mertz wasn’t brought in so that he could ride the bench. He was brought in to spin the football and win games.

Week one against South Florida can’t get here soon enough. Last season was a disaster of epic proportions. Yes, we won eight games, but that’s not nearly good enough.

We need to bounce back and do it in a major way. That’s what today is all about. Chryst, Mertz and the crew is coming together to start a major campaign in 2019.

I can’t wait!
