Purdue superfan Tyler Trent passed away following a battle with cancer last year, but his name will now forever be enshrined at the school.

Purdue announced Tuesday that the school is renaming their student entrance “Tyler Trent Student Gate.”

From now on, whenever students enter the stadium on game-day, the first thing they will see is Tyler Trent’s name. (RELATED: Clemson Football Coach Dabo Swinney Pays Respect To Tyler Trent During White House Visit)

The Purdue student captured the hearts of football fans across the nation this year as he courageously battled cancer. Trent first burst onto the scene on the sidelines during the Boilermakers stunning 49-20 victory over Ohio State last October. Trent passed away at the age of 20 on Jan. 1.

As someone who’s lost loved ones to this insidious disease, I’ll always admire Trent’s faith and courage.

May he rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing.
