MSNBC “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski suggested, without evidence, that Attorney General William Barr may be struggling with his mental health.

Brzezinski’s comments come after a letter reportedly sent to Barr from special counsel Robert Mueller surfaced Tuesday night. The letter allegedly demonstrates frustration over Barr’s summary of Mueller’s report on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

“I have been wondering for months what is going on with [Barr],” Brzezinski said. “The attorney general — I’m not sure what his state of mind is, or health or anything at this point.”

Brzezinski’ co-host and husband Joe Scarborough agreed that Barr was covering for President Donald Trump.

“He is doing no service to his Don,” Scarborough said. “He’s not helping the President politically. He oversold what he had. It blew up in his face when the report came out.”

Members of the media and political left have previously questioned Trump’s mental health in the past, without providing evidence. Last month, the Washington Post published an op-ed from presidential adviser Kellyanne Conway’s husband, attorney George Conway, in which he asserts that Trump is unfit for office and erroneously questions the president’s mental health.

Barr has been heavily criticized for his summary of Mueller’s report, and Tuesday night the Washington Post reported that Mueller expressed his dissatisfaction over Barr’s summary of his report in a letter sent to the attorney general. “There is now public confusion about critical aspects of the results of our investigation. This threatens to undermine a central purpose for which the Department appointed the Special Counsel: to assure full public confidence in the outcome of the investigations,” Mueller reportedly wrote.

Barr testifies in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.
