Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham argued Wednesday evening that Democrats were using rule of law as “a tool to get an outcome.”

Graham spoke with Fox News host Sean Hannity after a long day chairing the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearing with Attorney General William Barr.

Graham began by addressing the dossier, arguing that it still had not been verified and yet it appeared to have been the sole piece of “evidence” justifying the FISA warrant that allowed the FBI to surveil Trump aide Carter Page. “I know that McCabe said without the dossier that there would be no warrant,” Graham said. “I know to this day there is no this — verification of the dossier … I know that James Comey, the FBI director, after President Trump was elected, gave him the same dossier and told the president we can’t verify it. We just want you to know about it. That doesn’t add up.”

Graham reiterated his promise to look into potential abuse of the FISA court and continued, arguing that Democrats didn’t actually care what the FBI was doing — or not doing — with regard to either Clinton or Trump, so long as they achieved the end goal of destroying Trump’s presidency.

“From their point of view, the rule of law is the tool to get an outcome,” Graham explained. “From my point of view, rule of law protects all of us — including President Trump, including Republicans.”
