Meghan Markle’s estranged father wished the couple well after the birth of their baby boy on Monday.

Markle reportedly went into labor first thing Monday morning and gave birth to the royal baby shortly after, according to The Sun. Her father expressed pride regarding the arrival of his newest grandchild.

“I’m delighted to hear that mother and child are doing well,” Thomas Markle said in a statement. “I am proud that my new grandson is born into the British royal family and I am sure that he will grow up to serve the crown and the people of Britain with grace, dignity, and honor.”

“God bless the child and I wish him health and happiness, and my congratulations to my lovely daughter Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry, and God save the Queen,” he added. (RELATED: Meghan Markle Gives Birth To A Baby Boy)

Meghan and Prince Harry have been estranged with Meghan’s father since he missed the royal couple’s wedding back in May of 2018. The couple reportedly haven’t spoken to Thomas since he conducted a series of interviews with the media.

Meghan reportedly sent her father a letter asking him to stop speaking to the media which he later released to the tabloids. Her father was also accused of staging paparazzi photos leading up to the wedding, but it was later revealed that her sister set those up.

Royal expert Duncan Larcombe claims there is a high chance Thomas never gets to meet his grandchild.

“I can’t think for a moment that Thomas Markle will ever be able to meet his grandson or granddaughter,” Larcombe said in a clip from the documentary “Meghan & Harry: A Royal Baby Story.”
