Wisconsin basketball coach Greg Gard has raised a staggering amount of money for cancer research.

According to WKOW, Gard, whose father died from the awful disease, has raised $4.2 million for cancer research over the past 29 months and $800,000 this past weekend at his Garding Against Cancer event.

This is just another example of how great my beloved Badgers are. Most people only care about the scoreboard at the end of the day.

Wisconsin people care about a whole hell of a lot more. Gard is out here doing everything he can to end cancer. As somebody who has had multiple family members fight the beast known as cancer, I love seeing this from Gard. (RELATED: Wisconsin Loses To Oregon In The NCAA Tournament)

The man is a very solid basketball coach, and he also has raised a ton of money to help other people. That’s what being a good guy is all about.

I knew I liked the Badgers basketball coach when we hired him to take over for Bo Ryan a few years back.

I love to see guys win on the court, and I love coaches who make a huge impact off the court. Gard does both.

Some Wisconsin fans aren’t huge on hum, but I’m far away from that group of people. Sure, these past two years haven’t been great, but Gard is the man for the job.

The fact he has raised all this money to fight the evilness of cancer makes me want this guy running the program more than ever.
