On the Friday interview edition of The Daily Daily Caller Podcast, we discuss New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s entry into the 2020 Democratic field, how billionaire liberal Tom Steyer is now running ads attacking Democrats for not impeaching Trump, and we talk with Arthur Brooks, president of the American Enterprise Institute, about his excellent new documentary extolling the virtues of capitalism, “The Pursuit.”

Listen to the whole show:

Watch just the Arthur Brooks interview:

Mayor Bill de Blasio is so unliked in New York that 76 percent of New Yorkers don’t think he should run for president, but he’s not letting that stop him. His campaign kick-off video is scary crazy and something to behold. He thinks “the wrong people” have money, and he wants to use the power of government to correct that. It’s dangerously ignorant, but nothing new for Democrats. We have all the audio, including then-President Bill Clinton making a similar statement back in 1999. Plus, did you know de Blasio was born Warren Wilhelm Jr? We explain how, after 3 name changes, he became “Bill de Blasio.”

Billionaire Tom Steyer has been running ads calling for the impeachment of President Trump for years. Having failed to make that happen, he’s now turned his anger and fortune on Democrats in Congress. His new ad targets Democratic leaders in Congress for failing to impeach Trump. Missing from all of it is any actual legal reason to do so. Steyer just has more money than God and an ego to go along with it. We play the audio and mock him the way he deserves to be.

A new documentary, available to buy or rent on iTunes, makes the case for capitalism. You wouldn’t think the most successful economic system ever created, one that has lifted more than 2 billion people out of poverty, would need a case to be made for it, but with the political left promising to destroy it, the case needs to be made. Arthur Brooks travels the world, showing how capitalism makes lives better, and even saves lives. He also exposes how the example of “democratic socialism” cited most frequently by its advocates isn’t actually socialist and is so starkly different from the United States as to be unrecognizable. He also shows how the American entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well, both here at home and in some of what used to be the poorest areas on the planet. It’s well worth your time. The trailer for the documentary is included in the interview, check it out.
