Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott met with Roger Goodell on Tuesday, and it seemed like it went well.

The meeting was in response to a viral video shared by TMZ of the talented NFL star appearing to bump a security guard in Vegas and verbally berating a woman. He was briefly placed in handcuffs, but was never arrested or charged with anything. (RELATED: Ezekiel Elliott Placed In Handcuffs During Music Festival In Las Vegas)

Following his meeting with Goodell, Elliott wrote on Twitter that he made a “poor decision” and needs to “work harder to ensure” he doesn’t find himself “in compromised situations in the future.” It’s not known at this time if Goodell intends to suspend him or not.

You can read his full statement below.

As I said when it happened, Elliott has to be way smarter. There’s nothing wrong with going to Vegas for most of us, but the Cowboys star has a history of issues with the league.

He was previously suspended for six games after a series of issues, and you’d think that would have been more than enough to give him a serious wakeup call.

Apparently, he’s still behaving like a bonehead at times.

You know how you avoid a confrontation with police and security at a Las Vegas music festival? You don’t go to a Las Vegas music festival. You can’t be placed in handcuffs if you’re not there! It’s shockingly simple.

He’s already on thin ice, he’s in the middle of a contract negotiation and the only thing on his mind should be winning football games. Everything else should be secondary.

Clearly, Goodell needed to send him a bit of a reminder.

I hope Elliott figures it out sooner than later because he’s far too talented to ruin his career with off-the-field decisions like bumping security at a Vegas festival.

My guess is there won’t be a suspension heading his way for this incident, but Goodell might decide differently given his history. One thing we all know for sure is that Elliott just needs to make better decisions.
