“Yellowstone” star Cole Hauser had some interesting insight about his character on the hit show.

Hauser stars as Rip in the Paramount Network hit, and his character is John Dutton’s most trusted associate and right-hand man. (REVIEW: ‘Yellowstone’ Season 2 Finale ‘Sins Of The Father’ Ends With Death And Hope For The Future)

How does the star actor prepare for the role? According to CinemaBlend, he said the following on the season two special features about preparing for Rip compared to other roles:

Well, I approach everything kind of the same. I’m somebody that when I like something and then poke around and start kind of digging into this character. There’s a physicality to Rip, and obviously there’s part of him that’s an amazing horseman. So, working on the roping, the reining, and cutting, and as you start to do all of those things, you start to really kind of find who this guy is…So, it starts with that, and also like I told you, sitting with Taylor [Sheridan, Yellowstone’s co-creator] and spending the time that I’ve spent with him over the last 3 years now. We keep kind of taking risks with him, and you see that in Season 3, which we just finished.

I love everything that Hauser had to say. The role is arguably one of the most fascinating on the show. (RELATED: Filming On Season 3 Of ‘Yellowstone’ Has Officially Finished)

At the very least, Rip seems to be the favorite of every woman I know who watches the show. He’s fiercely loyal, he’s a problem eliminator and he does whatever is necessary to protect the ranch.

I also love how Hauser said they’re going to keep taking risks with the character in season three. Given his storylines with Beth, there’s literally limitless possibilities of where Rip could end up going.

After all, he has now been given part of the ranch by John. With him and Beth as close as ever, I think it’s safe to say he’s not going anywhere.

Let’s not forget he also took some bullets for her. There’s no question at all that they’re as close as we’ve ever seen through two seasons.

No matter what happens, I’m excited for season three in 2020. Should be a ton of fun.
