Fox might have a major hit on its hands with the new show “Deputy.”

I’ve been desperately looking for a new TV show, and I decided to give this one with Stephen Dorff a shot after a recommendation from somebody who is well-versed on the subject of television. (RELATED: Watch Stephen Dorff In The Trailer For Fox’s Police Show ‘Deputy’)

It didn’t disappoint at all. The plot of “Deputy” is incredibly simple. Dorff’s character Bill Hollister becomes the sheriff of Los Angeles county due to an antiquated rule following the death of the elected sheriff.

He’s got the most experience, and thus is automatically the sheriff. Naturally, Hollister isn’t your standard politician or sheriff.

He’s a no nonsense, plays-by-his-own-rules renegade. For network television, the show has an awesome amount of action.

Even as sheriff, he’s still running point on dangerous raids, and he absolutely smoked some people during a cartel raid in the season premiere.

Americans love the idea of vigilante justice. While this technically doesn’t fall under that umbrella, it certainly has that vibe as Hollister does whatever he wants to get the bad guys.

Dorff’s career got a shot of life injected into after “True Detective” season three, and it looks like “Deputy” could be another major hit for him.

Are there some parts I cringed at? Sure, there’s a few political elements in the show that feel really forced, but it’s not enough to degrade the overall quality.

Deputy” is a great show, and I can’t wait to see what we get in season one. If you haven’t already caught the premiere, I suggest you do.
