President Donald Trump said Thursday the Senate impeachment trial is “very boring to watch” but he’s confident he’ll beat “the impeachment hoax” with the help of “Republican senators and probably some Democrats.”

The president told Fox News during an interview in Des Moines, Iowa, that impeachment is something that should never have happened. “I shouldn’t be in this position either because we’ve done more than any other president in the first three years … we have done a lot with tax cuts and regulation cuts and the military, rebuilding it, terrorism, and we got rid of 100% of the ISIS Caliphate and we could go on forever,” said Trump, adding that impeachment is “a ridiculous, horrible, partisan situation.”

The Senate will vote Friday on whether to invite more witnesses to testify at the impeachment trial.

When asked if impeachment will “stain you forever,” Trump pointed to the polls. “The polls came out and I am leading everybody. And I’m leading by a lot.” Speaking specifically about his popularity in Iowa, Trump said he has strong support from farmers because of the biofuel program and “I gave them the USMCA [U.S.-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement], I gave him the China [trade] deal … and now the farmers are going to do fantastically well. They have to buy bigger tractors and more land.” (RELATED: Adam Schiff: Removing Trump Urgent Because He’s ‘Threatening’ To ‘Cheat In The Next Election’)

The president dismissed any suggestion that former Vice President Joe Biden can beat him in a presidential matchup referring to polls that indicated that Biden was leading as “old.” With the Democratic presidential Iowa Caucuses scheduled for next Monday, Biden’s front-runner status has been superseded by Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders who has taken the lead in both Iowa and New Hampshire.

Trump countered claims from Sanders that the president plans to eliminate Social Security by saying only a strong economy can maintain a stable safety net. (RELATED: Gallup: Satisfaction With Race Relations Has Jumped 14% Since Trump Took Office)

“I’m the one that saved it … I haven’t touched it except making everything stronger, making our country stronger. Our country being stronger is whats saving Social Security. So I’m not touching Social Security. They’re [The Democrats] are the ones that are going to destroy it with crazy plans that will destroy everything, they will destroy healthcare, take away healthcare from 180 million people. It is going to be a catastrophe.”
