A recent Twitter poll showed people prefer the XFL to the Academy Awards.

I ran a poll Sunday asking people if they’d prefer watching the XFL games or the Academy Awards. The results weren’t close. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

Of the 3,771 voters, 94% chose the XFL over the Oscars.

This poll is incredible to me. The XFL has been around for all of one weekend, and the people in this poll already prefer it to the Academy Awards.

I guess I can’t say I’m overly surprised. Award shows are declining in popularity, and football is king in this country.

On top of that, the XFL put together an incredible product for the fans this past weekend. It was incredibly well done for the television audience.

Just in case anybody thought football wasn’t at the top of the mountain in this country, this poll should tell them all they need to know.

The XFL has been around for less than 72 hours at this point, and people already are in love with it. That’s not a great sign for people who think Hollywood has a ton of influence in America.

Personally, I’m right there with all the people who chose the XFL. I’d way rather watch some spring football than the Academy Awards, and that’s coming from a guy who loves movies.

Sound off in the comments with which one you’d prefer. I’m guessing the fact you’re reading this article means you’d also vote for the XFL over the Oscars.
