Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes apparently didn’t know how to read a defense while dominating the NFL.

Mahomes has set the league on fire the past two seasons, and has been borderline unstoppable on his way to a Super Bowl this past year. It turns out that he did it all without really understanding what he was looking at. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

In a short clip from “The Shop” shared by HBO, Mahomes says he didn’t learn how to successfully read defenses until “halfway through last year” and added that he “was just playing.”

You can watch his full comments below.

If Patrick Mahomes has been this damn good without really understand defenses, then the league is for a wild time as he continues to improve.

His first season as a starter was next level impressive. He won the MVP and just torched defenses throughout the season.

Stop and think about how insane it is that he accomplished all of that without knowing what he was even throwing at.

Mahomes is going to win an absurd amount of rings before he retires if he can stay healthy. I have no doubt about that at all.

The league usually catches up with players and learns how to stop them. Through two seasons, the NFL has found zero answers for Mahomes.

If he keeps improving, then I’m not sure how he’ll be stopped. The man is a freak of nature.
