Associated Press writer Ralph Russo thinks Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly is the third best coach in America.
Russo recently dropped his list of top coaches in America, and had Nick Saban and Dabo Swinney in the top two spots. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)
It was Kelly sliding in at number three that really caught my attention. You can see the whole list below.

Number three? The third best in America? I simply don’t agree with that at all. Not one bit. Has Kelly had some good teams? Sure.
He’s had some very solid Fighting Irish squads, but what has he done to convince anybody he’s the third best coach in America.

He’s never won a national championship at the FBS level. Not a single one. In fact, Notre Dame is kind of known for getting lit up in the playoff.
Yet, Russo still put Kelly as the third best coach in America! It’s a mind-boggling decision to say the least.
I’m not even sure I’d have Kelly in my top 10. I damn sure wouldn’t have him in my top five. You can’t be a top five coach in America until you make some serious noise in the postseason. That’s simply something Kelly has never done.

Again, he’s not a bad leader and he’s certainly one of the better coaches in America. He’s just not the third must. That much is for sure.
