Along with not panicking and being smart about washing hands, etc., we need to think about making sure the less fortunate have food in this time of mass disruptions to our systems. Nearly 29 million school kids are on “free lunch” programs at their schools.
Now that that essentially all gatherings of more than 50 people are banned, these kids, often with hourly-pay working parents, do not have meals. With the rule that only 50 or fewer can gather in one place, all this country can really have now is a Joe Biden rally.
I appeal to my readers, who tend to be conservative, to give to your local food banks in this time of need. Vet them, make sure they are efficient and not some Clinton Foundation opportunistic front like the “Haiti” shakedown. In that, the Clinton Foundation was more like The Take a Wish Foundation. Can you imagine someone thinking, “I want my money to go honestly to the poor, so I think I will funnel it through the Clintons”?
“Tinkling cymbals” is the best way to describe liberals when it comes to their incessant, self-congratulatory concern for the less fortunate. They tinkle on our leg and tell us that they are raining money on charities, when in fact they are not. And guess who is? According to a study by Arthur Brooks, author of “Who Really Cares,” it’s those heartless, greedy, callous, selfish conservatives.
In data which has also been confirmed in a Google study, conservatives give about 40 percent more to charity than liberals. Other research over the years has reached the same conclusion, which brings up a question for lefties everywhere: “Why so generous with other people’s money and not your own?”
There is no better example of this hypocrisy than Presidential candidate and Chia-Pet Joe Biden. When he had to make his tax returns public, we learned that the guy who vilifies the “rich” for being greedy made $200,000 a year as VP and only gave $325 to charity.
The Democrats talk a good game about their compassion for the needy but are stingy when it comes to their own money. When they do give, it is more likely to be for their own personal aggrandizement. They tend to give to already well-endowed private universities and the arts.
The study also concluded that “red state” folks are more likely to volunteer for causes, help their neighbors, donate money and give blood. Apparently, the only thing liberals give in abundance is virtue-signaling lip service.
You would think liberals would at least give a good bit of money to children who need only $1 a day in one of those Sally Struthers countries. Angelina Jolie cannot adopt all of those kids; someone else has to act like he or she is doing something as well. If not, there would be no self-righteous chatter at San Francisco cocktail parties.
According to the “generosity index” compiled by the Catalogue for Philanthropy, the northeastern part of the U.S. gives the least amount to charity. Yet that region has the most liberal politicians, which these studies help to explain.
There is no honor in giving away other people’s money, which is what politicians do while giving eloquent speeches about their “compassion.” What angers me is the way they pat themselves on the back and give each other awards while giving away taxpayer money to their corrupt cronies. Remember the “shovel ready jobs” and the trillion dollars we never saw in the last “national emergency”? Let’s make sure tax dollars are not sent to political cronies, but instead put to work for the needy.
According to the liberals who control the narrative, conservatives — the ones who work, run businesses, employ folks, pay taxes and now, as we find out, give the most to charity – are, of course, society’s bad guys. Don’t buy into the stereotype.
I prefer smart capitalists who made their own money and then set out to solve problems through charity. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation does great work in other countries building bathrooms in sewage-ridden third world countries that produce 200 million tons of sewage a year, followed closely in second and third place by CNN and MSNBC.
