Boise State has furloughed several coaches during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the Idaho Statesman, the school has instituted mandatory 10-day furloughs for employees making more than $150,000 and that includes athletic coaches. Employees making less will be furloughed for fewer days. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

The Idaho Statesman wrote that the “majority” of football coaches for the Broncos will be furloughed for 10 days. Head football coach Bryan Harsin and basketball coach Leon Rice are both involved.

Is there anybody who thinks the coronavirus pandemic isn’t serious? One of the most successful football programs in America is furloughing coaches.

This isn’t like some small-time program that has no name recognition or success. This is Boise State we’re talking about.

When schools like BSU start furloughing coaches, you know the situation is really bad.

While more schools haven’t joined the list yet, I’d be willing to bet Boise State is far from the last one we see make this call.

With the cancelation of March Madness, sports not being played and the fate of football hanging in the balance, schools are facing tough calls.

Furloughing coaches is the way Boise State chose to go.

We’ll see if any programs follow their steps. I’d be shocked if Boise State is the only team to make this move.
