NFL legend Brett Favre encouraged Tom Brady to leave the Patriots if that’s what was in his heart.

The six-time Super Bowl champion stunned the football world when he left the Pats after two decades to sign with the Buccaneers. Favre spoke with him before the decision, and pushed him to do whatever he felt was right. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

Favre said the following about his talk with Brady during a Wednesday interview on SiriusXM NFL Radio, according to ProFootballTalk:

I spoke to Tom briefly at the Super Bowl. They did the Top 100 and we had a chance to visit a little bit. I didn’t say, ‘What are you gonna do?’ I just said, ‘Hey, if you’re thinking about going elsewhere,’ I said, ‘Go for it.’ And he asked me, if I had it to do over again would I do it the same way. And I would.

If there’s anybody who knows anything about switching teams late in their career, it’s Brett Favre. He played for the Jets and Vikings after leaving the Packers.

The old school gunslinger was the face of the Packers for years, won a Super Bowl and then left town to finish his career elsewhere.

Brady won six rings with the Patriots, had the most historic run in league history and decided he wanted to get a change of scenery.

Now, he’s with the Bucs, has Rob Gronkowski back with him, a loaded offense and the team looks ready to roll. There’s lots to be excited about if you’re a fan of the Buccaneers.

The future “30 for 30” on Brady and the Patriots is going to be incredible. It’ll be even better if he wins a Super Bowl with the Bucs.
