Minnesota Football Coach P.J. Fleck Will Take Pay Cut During The Coronavirus Pandemic

Minnesota Gophers football coach P.J. Fleck will take a pay cut during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Pioneer Press, Fleck volunteered to give up a week of his pay during the ongoing crisis. His salary for the upcoming season is $4.5 million. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

“We were glad to. Heather and I immediately jumped on it. Anything we can do to continue to help,” Fleck said about giving up his money for a week, according to the same report.

I’ve told you all many times that we’re going to start seeing more and more of this down the stretch as the crisis continues to ravage sports.

Without any concrete answer on whether or not the football season will happen, athletic departments are forced to make tough calls.

They’re all looking for ways to save money and cut costs. One of the most popular answers throughout the country has been cutting pay for coaches.

While I’m sure Fleck could have fought this decision seeing as how he’s the face of the university, he sounds more than happy to take a minor cut.

We’re all making sacrifices, and Fleck seems aware of the fact many other people have it much worse than he does.
