The Washington Post published an absurd piece about sports Sunday.

WaPo spun up the internet after publishing, “The pandemic has reminded us: We don’t need more sports in our lives — we need less,” and sending a tweet linking to the story. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

It didn’t take long at all for the piece by Norman Chad to get universally roasted online.

I’m honestly not even sure what his argument for less sports in America is. I’ve read the piece through a couple times, and his points still aren’t clear to me.

His main argument comes down to the sentence, “Believe it or not — and saying this might get me fired by the end of this sentence — we don’t need more sports in our lives, we need less.”

Yeah, I’m not really sure that’s even close to being true. Chad tries to make the argument we’ve become too simplistic and dogged down by sports.

That’s, of course, absolutely absurd. We don’t need less sports. We need more. We need sports back in America like I need oxygen in my lungs.

We need sports back like our lives depend on it. At the very least, the soul of this nation depends on college football returning.

Sports unite people, give us something to cheer about, give us a reason to get up with excitement and give us all a reason to smash beers.

I’m not really sure why Chad is against all of that. That would seem to be a question the FBI and CIA might need to investigate.

When it comes to bad takes, suggesting we need less sports in America is a hall of fame level take.

Let us know in the comments what you think about the idea of less sports being played in America. I think most of you will agree that it’s utterly insane!
