New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold isn’t wasting time worrying about getting coronavirus.

NFL facilities are nearing the point of opening up and allowing players to return for activities. While some athletes might be worried about getting the virus by being around teammates, the former USC star isn’t one of them. “As long as we’re allowed to be in the facility and be practicing and be playing games, I’m not going to be worried about it,” Darnold said during a Monday interview on The Michael Kay Show, according to ESPN.

He added that he expects the people in charge to “do their due diligence and make sure we’re safe coming back.”

At the end of the day, I think Darnold’s attitude is the one you have to have if you’re healthy and being safe. We can’t live in fear forever.

We just can’t live in fear forever and ever. That’s no way to live, and I think more and more people are starting to come around to that point.

Darnold sounds realistic and optimistic. If the teams sign off on it from a safety standpoint, then there shouldn’t be a reason to panic.

Eventually, we’re going to get back to normal. That’s just a fact, but we won’t get there if people are terrified to move.

I appreciate Darnold’s attitude. I also expect several other players to start singing a similar tune sooner or later.
