The Seattle Seahawks might have some interest in Cam Newton.

Newton is searching for a new team after the Carolina Panthers showed him an exit, and the Seahawks are apparently an option on the table. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Seattle “would be open to adding Newton” as Russell Wilson’s backup. Fowler noted he wouldn’t be paid much but that might not matter to the Auburn Heisman winner.

I find it really hard to believe the Seahawks are going to do this. I find it incredibly hard to believe. In fact, I’d be a bit shocked if it happened.

Does Newton have anything left in the tank? Maybe he does and maybe he doesn’t. Who knows, but bringing him in with Russell Wilson would be a disaster.

The Seahawks are Wilson’s team, and Newton would add an incredibly unnecessary distraction. It’s not even necessarily his fault.

Newton is going to generate headlines wherever he goes. That much is just a fact, and the Seahawks don’t need to be dealing with that.

Could they use some depth behind Wilson? Sure, but not at the expense of nonstop distractions. This is Wilson’s team, and Newton would rock the boat too much. I’m a ‘hard pass’ on this idea.
