Athlon has dropped its preseason top 25 for college football, and the Clemson Tigers are sitting at the top.
Dabo Swinney, Trevor Lawrence and the rest of the Tigers took the number one spot. They were followed by Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Penn State. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)
The Wisconsin Badgers checked in at number 12.

Do I have any issue with Clemson being number one? No, Athlon is known for being reliable, accurate and dependable.
It would have been surprising if Clemson hadn’t been in the top two. With Lawrence throwing passes and Swinney running the show, you can’t have Clemson past two.
Having said that, Ohio State being third is very surprising in my eyes. They should be two at the worst.
The top two should be the Buckeyes and Tigers. The two teams feature the best quarterbacks in America and tons of talent.
It’s foolish in my eyes to take Alabama over the Buckeyes when we don’t really know what the Crimson Tide are all about right now.
As for Wisconsin, I’m okay with the Badgers checking in at number 12. Do I love it? No, but I’m okay with it.
Being 12 is an area where we’re getting noticed, we’re getting a little respect but it’s not a ton of hype. It lets us keep a chip on our shoulders.
