Multiple Texas A&M athletes have coronavirus.

According to the Dallas Morning News, athletic director Ross Bjork said “less than five” tested positive for the virus when returning to campus. Their names and their respective sports haven’t been made public. All were asymptomatic and have been put in isolation. “Once there’s a positive test, there’s an action plan, we follow all the safety procedures,” Bjork added. SEC activities got underway Monday.

Well, like I said yesterday when Auburn had positive tests for returning football players, we’re just going to have to get used to players testing for the virus.

Once a player tests positive, schools will have to put their safety and the safety of the team first, which is what we’ve seen happen.

That means isolating them from the rest of the squad, letting them recover and then bringing them back once it’s safe.

We’re still months away from the football season happening. There’s no need to rush players with the virus. Isolate, contain and let them recover.

It sounds like A&M has the situation under complete control, and that’s good news for players and fans.
