Jake Hackney, a member of California’s National Guard, spoke with the Daily Caller’s Samantha Renck about the protests in Los Angeles following the death of George Floyd.

“I was sitting here. I was about to go hang out with some friends for the evening and instead got the call to head down to our armory to get ready to go out to help with everything going on.”

Hackney said he was not sure how long he would be in Los Angeles.

“We were told pack for three to five days. We ended up being there for nine days.”

Hackney also described what it was like being among the protests, his interactions with the protesters and more. (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: ‘Their Motives To Me Are Questionable’: Black Republican Congressional Candidate Knocks Celebrities For Bailing Out Rioters)
