‘Lord Of The Rings’ Star Ian Holm Dies At 88 Years Old

Actor Sir Ian Holm has passed away due to complications from Parkinson’s Disease.

Holm was 88 years old at the time of his death, according to a report published Friday by Fox News.

“It is with great sadness we can confirm that the actor Sir Ian Holm CBE passed away this morning at the age of 88,” a representative for Holm told Fox News. “He died peacefully in hospital, with his family and carer. “He was a genius of stage and screen, winning multiple awards and loved by directors, audiences and his colleagues alike,” the statement continued. “His sparkling wit always accompanied a mischievous twinkle in his eye. Charming, kind and ferociously talented, we will miss him hugely.”

Holm was most known for his role as Bilbo in the “Lord Of The Rings” trilogy. He was also known for his roles in movies such as in “Alien,” “Frankenstein,” “The Fifth Element” and “Chariots Of Fire.”
