A video released by the San Jose Police Department Monday shows a woman coughing on a one-year-old child after getting into a dispute over social distancing.
According to a police statement, the woman removed her mask and coughed several times on the child after she was upset that the child’s mother was “not maintaining proper social distancing.” The incident allegedly occurred at Yogurtland in San Jose, California, on June 12. “It happened so quick, and I was in shock that she got close, she took off her mask really fast and she coughed in my son’s face,” said Mireya Mora to Cleveland 19. “Coughing on someone’s face, she did it on purpose.” Mora also claimed that her son had a slight fever following the incident.
The police report described the woman as a white female in her 60s with a medium build. The police are asking for the help of the public in identifying the woman who was wearing a gray bandana, glasses, long sleeve shirt with gray vertical lines, white dress pants, and patterned tennis shoes.
“I believe this woman might be racist,” said Mora to Cleveland 19, “Me and my grandma are Hispanic, and she started telling me about my distance and harassing me and my son once I started speaking Spanish to my grandma.”
