Here’s The History Of The Statues Protesters Got Wrong

In response to the death of George Floyd, numerous statues have been toppled or defaced by protesters demonstrating against institutional racism and police brutality.

While many of the statues depicted men who had fought for the Confederacy during the Civil War, defended slavery or championed segregation, some of the statues targeted by protesters actually depicted abolitionists who dedicated their lives to ending slavery and even soldiers who fought for the Union in the Civil War.
