The NCAA will allow all college football teams to start games Aug. 29.

That weekend is generally referred to as week zero because only a couple games happen, and the following weekend is the true opening weekend. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

Well, the coronavirus pandemic has changed things. According to Yahoo Sports, the NCAA has informed all FBS teams that they’re free to start games Aug. 29.

Oklahoma already moved their opener up to the date, but it’s not known right now how many other teams will shift around their schedule.

I kind of like the move to be honest with everyone. Why wouldn’t I like the fact that we might have more week zero games than usual.

You’ll never hear me argue against having more college football games. That much is for sure. If a few more teams move to Aug. 29, then that’s great.

Having said that, moving games up is a shade strange. On one hand, it goes against the line we’ve been told over and over again about buying time.

It literally gives teams less time to prepare.

However, I suppose it gives teams more time down the stretch to move stuff if all hell breaks loose during the pandemic.

So, you lose a little time upfront but get some back on the back end. It all balances out I suppose.

Either way, I’m here for as much football as possible! If we get more games Aug. 29, I’ll just have to drink a few more beers!
