John McAfee said he was arrested in Norway for wearing a “thong mask” instead of a face mask.
“I was jailed: Why? Visited Catalonia just before Europe banned Catalonians from traveling,” the 74-year-old software tycoon tweeted Monday, along with a photo of him wearing what he called his “thong mask.” The post was noted by the Daily Mail in a piece published Tuesday. Later, McAfee‘s wife, Janice McAfee, shared on his Twitter page that her husband had indeed been placed under arrest, while she was only detained.
“I’ll manage John’s account until he escapes (usual method), bribes someone (very quick – might be out in a few hours), retains the right lawyer (will be a few days) or becomes warden of the jail, in which case we will have to force him out,” Janice tweeted, per the outlet.
“His thong mask: It doesn’t recycle his exhaled carbon dioxide, like over the ear masks,” she added. “(Breathing impaired people are exempt from wearing masks because masks impair respiration).”
Janice continued, “Masks stop bacteria. Not viruses people! He was arrested for what he believes. Thank you my love.”
