UMass has canceled the 2020 football season.

The school announced the decision Tuesday morning, and cited “the continuing challenges surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic” as why games couldn’t happen in the fall. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

The Minutemen are still hoping to potentially play in the spring.

I hate to sound mean, but we shouldn’t give a damn at all that UMass isn’t playing football. Yes, they’re an FBS team, but who cares?

The Minutemen aren’t a competitive team. They have zero impact on the national conversation in the world of college football.

Literally none at all.

To paraphrase the great show “It’s Always,” it’s time to focus on those of us who are going to make it. It’s time to focus on those of us who will play.

UMass’ time has come and gone. Forget about them. It’s time to move on to teams that actually matter.

The powerhouse teams have to play, and there’s no question about it. We just need to get it done.
