Joe Scarborough lashed out Tuesday at President Donald Trump, criticizing him for saying that former Vice President Joe Biden would “hurt God.”

Scarborough recounted Biden’s personal history of tragic loss and called him “a man of deep faith,” adding that for Trump to attack that was “unspeakably vile.” (RELATED: Trey Gowdy: Biden Is ‘A Recidivist When It Comes To Saying Racially Curious Things’)

Scarborough accused Trump of engaging in anti-Catholic bigotry, saying that he hoped evangelical leaders would join him in calling that out.

“Joe Biden is a man who unfortunately has been called upon time and time again, through one personal tragedy after another to lean on his faith in Jesus Christ and to pray to God just for the strength to continue moving forward every day,” Scarborough continued.

The “Morning Joe” host went on to list a few of the personal tragedies Biden had endured over the years, saying, “Losing a wife and a daughter in a tragic, tragic accident. Losing a son to cancer. I mean, my God! To suggest that this man of deep faith ‘hates god and hates the bible’ —”

“It’s sick,” cohost Mika Brzezinski cut in.

“It’s just — it’s unspeakably vile,” Scarborough concluded, asking Christians to join him in calling the president out. “What would Jesus do? Remember those little bands that we all wore around your wrists for so many years? Yeah. Just ask yourself if Jesus would do such a thing to a man who’s suffered so much during his life and suggested that he hated God and he hated the Bible.”
