Detroit Lions receiver Quintez Cephus is reportedly torching the defense in training camp.

The fifth-round pick in the 2020 draft out of Wisconsin has become an issue for the defense early in training camp. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

According to MLive.com, Cephus cooked third overall pick defensive back Jeff Okudah and followed that up with “a touchdown catch in so much traffic that I couldn’t actually tell who was guarding him” during a recent practice.

Head coach Matt Patricia also praised Cephus this past Sunday for his performance during camp and John Niyo added that he was doing well.

Hearing this makes me so happy. I said from the moment the Lions took Cephus in the 2020 draft that we found a huge steal.

I watched Cephus tear up defenses for years when he was playing for the Wisconsin Badgers. He’s not the fastest guy we’ve ever seen, but he is incredibly imposing.

He is a massive human, and he’s a nightmare for defensive backs to try to get physical with. The fact he lit up Okudah twice is proof of that fact.

Matthew Stafford needs all the help he can get when it comes to the passing game. The Lions got a great option, and only paid the price of a fifth-round pick.

You really can’t ask for much more than that.

I can’t wait to see what Cephus does with the Lions. I have a feeling the young man has a very bright future ahead of him.
