Jemele Hill recently had a scorching hot take on Twitter about the USA and Nazi Germany.
The former ESPN star tweeted late Sunday afternoon that she was reading the book “Caste,” and wrote in part, “if you were of the opinion that the United States wasn’t nearly as bad as Nazi Germany, how wrong you are.” (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)
Been reading Isabel Wilkerson’s new book, “Caste,” and if you were of the opinion that the United States wasn’t nearly as bad as Nazi Germany, how wrong you are. Can’t encourage you enough to read this masterpiece.

Admittedly, I’ve never read “Caste,” and I’d never heard of Isabel Wilkerson prior to this tweet from hill. Amazon lists the description of the book in part as follows:
Beyond race, class, or other factors, there is a powerful caste system that influences people’s lives and behavior and the nation’s fate. Linking the caste systems of America, India, and Nazi Germany, Wilkerson explores eight pillars that underlie caste systems across civilizations, including divine will, bloodlines, stigma, and more.
Despite never reading the book, here’s what I do know for sure, Nazi Germany and the USA aren’t similar at all.
For those of you who don’t know, Hitler started a war that ravaged Europe, carried out the mass genocide of the Jewish people and others and ran one of the worst dictatorships that the world has ever seen.
What part of what I just listed does Hill, who now works at The Atlantic, think the USA has in common with the Nazis? Let’s drill down the specifics here.
Let’s not allow anyone to just tweet insane garbage and walk away. Hill thinks the USA and Nazi Germany are similar, and we deserve to know the specifics of this absurd claim.
Precisely. For example, I knew that Hitler admired Henry Ford for his racism. I did not know that they stole the one-drop rule from us as well as criminalizing interracial marriage.
Also, what does it say that in 2020, lynching still hasn’t been outlawed? https://t.co/7hgzU5iW9h

Has the United States made mistakes? Yes. No country is perfect, but when the world cried out for help to stop the Nazis, America answered the call.
In Hill’s eyes, we’re apparently indistinguishable from the Third Reich. There are some tweets that are so stupid that it’s hard to believe they’re real.

Comparing the Nazis and the USA is firmly in that camp. Of course, Hill got what she wanted, which was a bunch of attention online.
Welcome to the age of social media!
