The coronavirus pandemic upended the lives of millions of Americans, and among the most vulnerable groups to have been affected by restrictions aimed at slowing the spread of the virus were victims of human trafficking.

In early August, the Trump administration brought attention to the subject when they announced $35 million in Justice Department grants to organizations that provide human trafficking victims with safe housing. Ivanka Trump said that many victims have had to live with their traffickers during stay-at-home orders.
