Authorities in Ukraine are investigating the killing of an American embassy employee after an apparent assault, Reuters reports.
An unidentified employee of the U.S. embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine was admitted to the hospital and later succumbed to her injuries, according to Ukrainian police, per Reuters. Police in the Ukrainian capital are looking for a male suspect.
A woman who worked for the U.S. Embassy in #Ukraine was found unconscious near the railroad on Tolbukhin Street in Kyiv, the police reported on Sept. 30.

The victim was found unconscious on the street near a park in Kyiv by a bystander, Reuters says. She was suffering from an apparent head injury. Ukrainian police say the woman was assaulted and a search for the male suspect is underway. It is currently unclear what the motives of the attack were and whether it had anything to do with the woman’s status as an embassy employee. The U.S. has threatened to close an embassy in Iraq over local attacks in recent days. There has not been a prior history of attacks on U.S. diplomatic facilities in Ukraine.
