BET Star Bert Belasco Dead At 38. Here’s What We Know

BET star Bert Belasco was found dead in his hotel room in Richmond, Virginia, where he was reportedly quarantining for his next project. He was 38.

Bert Belasco’s father, Bert Sr. shared with TMZ in a piece published Monday that the “Let’s Stay Together” star was reportedly set to take on a new movie role and had to quarantine before he could come on set amid the coronavirus outbreak. (RELATED: Legendary Comic Don Rickles Died At Age 90)

Details of the star’s death are unclear, but the outlet reported that Belasco’s girlfriend reportedly called the hotel to check on him when she couldn’t get a hold of him. An autopsy is pending. (RELATED: Hollywood Reacts To Death Of Legendary Actress Doris Day)

Bert’s father shared with the outlet that he thinks his son suffered a “fatal aneurysm.”

Shortly after news broke about the star’s death, tributes started appearing on social media.

“I am gutted by this news,” Yvette Nicole Brown tweeted. “Bert was my friend! We had JUST talked last week. He was happy and excited about his new project and all the good that was to come. No day is promised. NO DAY.”

While Gabrielle Dennis wrote, “#BertBelasco may you rest well such an unexpected loss and I am so sorry for his family and friends. He was a talented, humble, and pretty cool guy from what I knew of him and I send prayers up for all effected #RIPBert.”
